ISO 9001:2026 Published – What Organizations Need to Know The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published ISO 9001:2026 – Quality management systems — Requirements on 16 September 2026. ISO 9001:2026 is the sixth edition of the internationally recognized Quality Management Systems (QMS) standard and replaces ISO 9001:2015. The new edition builds on the established ISO 9001 framework while introducing targeted updates intended to improve clarity, usability and relevance for organizations of different sizes, sectors and levels of maturity. MSME Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026: Important Changes Every MSME Should Know
MSME DEVELOPMENT (AMENDMENT) BILL, 2026 – IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR INDIAN MSMEs The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 was passed by Parliament in August 2026, introducing important changes to the framework governing MSMEs in India. The amendments are intended to strengthen the MSME ecosystem, improve ease of doing business, address delayed-payment challenges and provide a stronger institutional framework for MSME growth and competitiveness. KEY AREAS OF THE 2026 MSME REFORMS 1. MSME CLASSIFICATION The amended framework incorporates both investment and turnover as criteria for MSME classification. The current Udyam Registration framework provides the following classification limits: • Micro Enterprise – Investment up to ₹2.5 crore and turnover up to ₹10 crore • Small Enterprise – Investment up to ₹25 crore and turnover up to ₹100 crore • Medium Enterprise – Investment up to ₹125 crore and turnover up to ₹500 crore MSMEs should review their Udyam Registration information and ensure that their business information remains accurate and updated. 2. UDYAM REGISTRATION The amendment provides statutory recognition to the Udyam Registration Portal as a digital, free and voluntary registration platform for MSMEs. Businesses should use the official Udyam Registration system for MSME registration and avoid relying on unauthorized private portals claiming to provide official registration services. 3. FOCUS ON DELAYED PAYMENTS Delayed payments continue to be an important business challenge for Micro and Small Enterprises. The amendments strengthen mechanisms for addressing delayed-payment disputes and provide for greater use of digital and institutional mechanisms for faster resolution. 4. ONLINE DISPUTE RESOLUTION The reforms provide for Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) to facilitate timely and cost-effective resolution of eligible disputes involving Micro and Small Enterprises. 5. TReDS AND RECEIVABLE FINANCING The reforms also strengthen the role of the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) in improving liquidity and facilitating faster settlement of invoices for MSMEs. 6. MSEFC MECHANISM The framework provides greater flexibility for States to establish multiple Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Councils (MSEFCs), supporting faster handling of delayed-payment disputes. IITF 2026 – IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY FOR MICRO AND SMALL ENTERPRISES The Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises has announced that applications for participation in IITF 2026 are open from 1 September 2026 to 20 September 2026. Eligible Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) can apply through the official MSME portal under the Procurement & Marketing Support (PMS) framework. IMPORTANT DEADLINE Application Period: 1 September 2026 to 20 September 2026 Eligibility: Only MSEs having a valid Udyam Registration as on 31 August 2026 are eligible for the IITF 2026 application. MSMEs should ensure that their Udyam Registration and business information are updated before proceeding with the application.
